Comparative Analysis of Riser Base and Flowline Gas Injection on Vertical Gas-Liquid Two-Phase Flow

Gas injection is a frequently used method for artificial lift and flow regime rectification in offshore production transportation flowlines. The behaviour such flowlines complex better understanding of characteristics, as patterns, void fraction/hold up distributions pressure gradient always required efficient optimal design downstream handling facilities. Injection location have been shown to strongly affect fluid that can important implications pumping facility design, especially if the development length between pipeline less than L/D = 50 reported by many investigators. In this article, we provide results an experimental investigation into effects gas position on characteristics upwards vertical using riser with internal diameter 52 mm 10.5 m. A horizontal 40-m-long section connected at bottom provides options base or line gas. flowline performed 40 m upstream base. 16 capacitance wire mesh sensor gamma densitometer were measure gas-liquid phase cross-sectional distribution top. detailed analysis carried out based measurements. These include regimes, liquid holdup peaking patterns well time series data. Our findings show behaviours differences due different locations persisting after 180D riser. More specifically, core-peaking occurred lower rates through flowline, while wall-peaking profiles established same conditions injection. Wall was associated dispersed bubbly flows hence non-pulsating against Taylor bubbles slug flows. Furthermore, it found generally produced holdups. It noted circumferential injector promoted high fraction low Due structure, slip velocity smaller larger cap higher. measurements observations presented paper valuable knowledge base/flowline introduction directly feed facilities storage tanks, catchers separators.
